Are we continuing to log bugs at SourceForge?
I am completely in favor of a code-freeze, right now, and a call for
bugfixes. Chuck and Peter are right in saying there's no point in beginning
work on an IDE when there's still issues with the core API.
And while I agree that it would be sweet to build such an IDE using DynAPI2
itself, I think Dan S. is correct: such an app would really be nothing more
than a wizard. Plus, I'd be willing to bet all that JS (both in DynAPI and
the app combined) would chew up enough browser resources as to make it run
slow as molasses. I'm not saying it's impossible; in fact, it would solve
our web browser component problem right off the bat.
I don't know much about Delphi but I'm willing to bet that more people have
Java available at this point. I find it hard to believe that there's no
embeddable browser components floating around out there. Even Mozilla/Gecko
would be nice, since it handles DOM correctly as does IE5, and would be
consistent. No idea how to do it, just thinking out loud here.
That said, I would be thrilled to someday fire up DynBuilder and go
Insert > Widget > DynWindow
Tools > Apply Theme > Enlightenment
Options > Insert Content > From File...
But first, how about a code freeze and a round of fixes?
