Well, if only $50 (plus, granted, lost time & immense-hassle) of pain is felt if/when convenience wins-out over security, it tends to retard the development of adequate security-hygiene for other, more vulnerable, areas of their lives, unfortunately. Also, I disagree that chargebacks are unknown by average users. Adult sites (especially) see a lot of chargebacks, yet chances are the script-kiddie criminals who're stealing numbers can find all the porn they want, absolutely-free. This means ordinary users (as they have told me in conversations) are the source of a surprising percentage of fraud. (Another reason for them to use e-gold!)
