We agree with Richard's and FSF's position below because your proposal
is too short-time sighted and insuficient for simple reasons. As you are
trapped with third-parties licenses issues, it's now ADI's turn to
obtain their authorization, just like we did with you.
If it is really impossible to do this with the current product, ADI
should design its next generation of products to avoid the problem.
There are two ways to do that:
1. Keep any necessary firmware in some kind of ROM in the modem
itself, so that users don't install it.
2. Choose other partners that won't stand in the way of cooperation
with our community.
