Could somebody help.
I am getting "Unknown authentication Scheme !" when i try to connect from
EchoVNC to the host computer through Internet. But in the LAN i am able to
connect all the systems.
At the host the UltraVNC server is running and NT authentication scheme is
set.
At the viewer side the default echoVNC viewer is changed to UltraVNCviewer.
I am using EchoVNC for windows version 1.40 and both the host and the viewer
systems are Windows XP pro with SP2.
Please help. What to do to get the username/password box ?

Heya. Right: I believe the "Unknown Authentication scheme" has
nothing to do with EchoVNC or echoServer. Your UltraVNC server is
probably setup for "NT authentication", which is not supported by any
other Viewer except the UltraVNC Viewer. So once you "point" EchoVNC
so that it uses the right Viewer, you should be able to connect.
hope that helps,
Scott

I think you are right. The default VNC viewer in EchoVNC may not be
compatiable with my echoserver.
When i changed it to UltraVNCViewer, i am able to connect to the system
in the LAN :-) .
But when i connect to the host through internet, it is showing up
"Uknown Authentication Scheme!".
I am pretty sure that this time the problem is not with EchoVNC, but
with host side configuration.. Am I right ?
I even kept forceguest value to '0' in HKLM\SYSTEM\Currentcontrolset\LSA
One morething to point out here is sometimes i am getting
username/password box and sometimes "Unknown Authentication scheme !".
Is anything that i am doing wrong here.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Before we get too far along, let me check the obvious: the
"default" VNC Viewer in EchoVNC is the RealVNC viewer. If
you're connecting to an UltraVNC server...maybe that version
of server is incompatible with the RealVNC Viewer. Please use
the "Viewer" tab in EchoVNC to browse to an UltraVNC Viewer
and see if that helps.
thanks,
Scott

Hmm. Please try this:
1. Install the 1.40 version of EchoVNC on the VNC Server side of
the connection.
2. Delete the "proxyloggen.log" file in the EchoVNC install
directory.
3. Startup EchoVNC, and attempt to connect to this PC.
That will generate a new proxyloggen.log file that will
help me figure out what could be going wrong.
thanks,
Scott

Hmmm. Did you configure your UltraVNC server to accept connections
from the loopback interface? I think UltraVNC used to have that
turned off
by default (RealVNC has it turned on by default now).

But, I am using UltraVNC in this context, not RealVNC. Will it
still solve my problem ?

Ravi:
There's a minor incompatibility with prior versions of EchoVNC and
RealVNC servers which causes periodic "connection closed
unexpectedly"
errors. We've fixed that in the 1.40 release which you can get
here:
ftp://ftp.echogent.com/EchoVNC/EchoVNC_1.40a_Setup.exe
Please let me know if that helps fix your troubles!
