 Hi all-
Does anyone know anything about how to begin the process of applying for a
grant for essentially academic work if one is not affiliated with an academic
institution? The work I am hoping to do is ecofeminist in nature. I don't
know the first thing about where to
look for potential contributors, how to write proposals, how to budget, etc.
Any help at all would be great. >>

Heather,

A wonderful web site for you will be The Foundation Center.
http://www.foundationcenter.org/

If you were in manhattan I would immediately direct you to their library, but
they have branches in other cities - though I don't know how the facilities
are in those cities.

There are a variety of grants which are open to independent research, and you
can look in that area. You can also try to affiliate with a non-profit
organization which may let you, as a volunteer and perhaps working on
something of mutual interest, apply for a grant for your research through
their non-profit status.

I will forward to you privately the web sites.

Also, I will not be far from the Foundation Center in Manhattan tomorrow - or
at least during this week, so if you email me the specifics on what you are
looking for, I will do some semblance of a grant search for you, and perhaps
copy some details on grant writing, etc. which I can fax or mail to you.

Nicole
