Dale,
What kind of problems did you see by upgrading to MDAC 2.6? Were
they product specific, or more general problems that affected the OS and
database?

Well I'm treading water in the pool right now. We are a NT install running
against MSSQL.

If you are the same configuration make sure that when you upgrade MDAC do
NOT upgrade to version 2.6.

The OS and DB upgrade were virtually painless.

The upgrade procedure went well except by the problems caused by me updating
to MDAC 2.6. I had to downgrade to a prior version but this was not a
trivial task.

I am testing the software right now in parallel mode. I do have one
outstanding issue with the Op's Center browser which is basically a front
end to a FTP client. In my install the Browser seems to think that files
within a directory are actually directories themselves. I have an open
support ticket with Peregrine right now.

For my upgrade I was assisted by a young lady named Michelle in their
support department. She was absolute gold. She was very helpful!

If you have more questions about the drama involved in the upgrade send them
my way.

Hi All,

We are taking the TLE plunge, and I was hoping to gather some feedback from
the ones that are already in the pool. Our EDI environment is TLE 4.1.1 on
a HP/Unix server and an Oracle DB.

1. How was the quality of the install?
2. How long was the server and database upgrades, and the actual
install?
3. Did you do a fresh install or an update? Which is better?
4. Any pitfalls or advice on the unknowns?
5. Will you share you project plan with me? I only ask that, because I
have shared my project plans with others in the past. Hopefully, Karma pays
off for me.
6. We are very likely to use a Peregrine consultant on the project. I
believe that we might get better/quicker support on issues. However, if you
used a consultant, what was your experience?
7. How was Peregrine's support for the install?
8. How is the quality of the product now that you are in production?

I have kept most of the emails from past Q and A on this topic, but I would
like to see if there have been any new learnings since.

Okay, who put the Baby Ruth bar in the pool! :-) ... I blame my sick sense
of humor on my cold medicine.

Thanks much for sharing,
