Resumes are door-openers. People who screen resumes look for: skills, time in each position, type of position (consultant or employee), duties, projects, jobs, responsibilities. For example, right now I need a java coder who can speak X12. If the resume doesn't have a java developer position at the top (current), or only has one six month spot five years ago doing java, then it's a no-fit for my position. buzz words are big because headhunters don't know how to read between the lines.
You don't do java, do you (<grin>)? Just curious what others would feel are the most important things to put on a Resume besides name, email and phone number. How much detail do you list regarding projects, software and systems? How much do you leave to discuss further in the interview? How long should a Resume be?
