Most North American automotive OEM and Tier 1 suppliers use the 850 to covey the blanket purchase order information. It normally is not used to covey the shipment schedule or a discreet order.
The only example of a buyer using the 850 and 862 interchangeably is Honda. It does add complexity to the supply chain that needs to address both documents. The original question was: >> If we were to derive a PO out of 862, what factors do we have to consider? You will need to extract information that addresses the following: * Logistics: Ship to locations, carrier, method of shipment, docks * Compliance information: information to be populated in the container bar codes and ASN * Order information: part number and discrete quantities (if available) * You may have to cross reference the blanket PO number * You will to need to manage CUMs if the buyer uses them for the ordering or shipping process. _______________________________________________ Regards, Todd LaBonte Phone: 231-933-7212 Fax: 231-933-7236 [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.e-supplylink.com e-SupplyLink . exceptional Supply Chain Solutions _____ From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jeff Garwick Sent: Tuesday, September 09, 2008 9:55 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; edi list Subject: Re: [EDI-L] 850 vs 862 Automotive customers such as Chrysler or Delphi use the 830 & 862 together and will send an 850 if they create a new PO in their system for a new part #. Additionally, they will send 860 PO changes if they change the price on a PO already setup. ----- Original Message ---- From: Narayanan Bharadwaj <narayananbharadwaj@ <mailto:narayananbharadwaj%40yahoo.com> yahoo.com> To: edi list <[EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:edi-l%40yahoogroups.com> com> Sent: Tuesday, September 9, 2008 12:52:40 PM Subject: [EDI-L] 850 vs 862 Hello all, does anyone use the EDI transactions 850 and 862 interchangeably?
