Alain Most companies will select EDI identifiers that are already related to their business.
Transport companies use their SCAC codes, many businesses use their Telephone numbers (12) or DUNS numbers (01). When using a new ID, there are not too many VANs around, and once a few interconnects are setup, there is usually no problem. There is always a risk using a ZZ and Company name, but the same problems come up when searching for unique web URLs. It's an interesting business model, but I don't think you are going to get a lot of clients. bonne chance!
