Agree...
I do not believe that the Inovis TLE Mapping Workbench can do this directly but
of course you CAN translate the inbound doc/version it to a flat file and then
run it back through and convert it to whatever ERI doc/version you need (2
maps/Op Center partner, event, app Configs/Translation steps). Simple but not
direct[Moses, Steve] .

I wanted to add that this is likely only a solution if you are DOWNGRADING a
doc/version (e.g. 4030 to 4010), Sure some partners 'Upgrade' their version
just to 'advance and stay current' but most do so in order to take advantage of
'additional data elements/segments. For this reason, the 4030 version payload
data would likely be a 'superset' and all data required by the lower version
would be available for mapping. This may not be the case going the other way.
However, it may be possibly the extra data is not required by the partner and
in this case you could 'stuff/hardcode' that particular data and be good to
go...

Thanks Todd, I wasn't aware of that, the ones I have experience with were able
to do it.

Dave,

This is true if the mapper can handle source EDI to target EDI. Many do not
have this capability.

You could always use a mapper to do this, input would be the original version,
output would be the desired version.

Wondering if there is a tool available to convert EDI files from one version to
another? e.g. downgrade from 6020 to 5010 or upgrade from 5010 to 6020 assuming
there is no new elements injected in the transformation.

Thanks
