Interesting challenge. We had that version of Sterling at THQ when I first started there. By the time we moved all our software to virtual servers, we had long dumped it in favor of GIS/SI. The virtual box should work. Install XP on it and restore the backup there or just back up the whole XP system including Gentran and restore it to the virtual server. But first uninstall whatever you don't want to bring across from XP.

I have a client who is running a very old version of Sterling Gentran (the program with an image of an office and desk, that is clickable). Probably Director... I don't use any Sterling stuff. It's on a very old PC. I suggested that they could buy a new PC running Windows 7, and install Virtual XP or VirtualBox. They could backup and restore the Sterling PC into the Virtual PC (running XP) and not have to worry about the PC breaking, etc... Of course they don't have the original Sterling disks, so that can't reinstall... Has anyone tried this?
