Thanks guys, im a noob but im a quick learner. My CFO is really harping on me
to find the cheapest cost solution that we can. I have heard some people say
they have been having problems with Sterling ever since they were bought by
IBM. Is anyone using IBM now and happy with it? What VANs should I be looking
at.

Thanks:

"Noob"

Hi Louis,
First thing, I changed the subject for you so that it will be relevant and you
might actually get some responses.
Second, Sterling is a great VAN.

Third, the VA in VAN means "Value Added".
Fourth, you need to decide whether what they, or any other VAN, is offering is
truly of value to your company and how much value.
Fifth, you can get rates all over the board, but you'd better review point 4
before making a decision.

Sixth, the numbers are always made up and flexible, so bargain.

Seventh, welcome to the whacky world of EDI.

Leah

Hi guys:

New EDI admin here. My company is in negotiations for a new deal with Sterling
Commerce now IBM. We are offered about 6 cents a kilo character up to 60,000
kc's with overage billed at 8 cents a kc with a two year commitment. We are
averaging about 60,000-65,000 kcs a month.  Is this a fair price we were
offered? What is the real market rate nowadays?

Thanks alot:

Larry Diantolo

hi Earl,

thanks for the clarification!
if it is interpreted that way (which seems logical ;-)) there would be no
problem!

will check some more x12 files, an put the x12 checking on-line this week.

kind regards,
henk-jan ebbers
