I think it's worth doing so. If you're moving to your own mailman-hosted
list it's not that hard to import an existing mbox archive. The old list
archive may not stick around for ever... and the SF one is fairly horrid
anyway.

Oh, $DEITY yes please. And while we're on the topic of email hygiene,
please could we ditch the gratuitous [edk2] from the subject line? It
just serves to obfuscate the *real* subject line. I suspect most people
here filter the list into a folder... and it's entirely redundant then.
If some recipients *really* want it, let them add it for *themselves*.

Also, please could we drop the misguided 'Reply-To:' header which
hijacks private replies and points them back to the list. Mail clients
already have *two* buttons; one for a private and one for a public
reply. The abusive Reply-To: header just makes them do (basically) the
same thing.

I'd do that. But *before* you do so, it's considerate to send out an
email telling people what the Reverse-Path of the new list will be, so
that they can update their filters.

Keep them separate.

Unless there are people who top-post and who inconsiderately don't trim
their citations... :)
