Freedman, Pisani and Purves' book, "Statistics",(Norton, 1980) uses a father-son height scatter graph in Chapter 8 to introduce the concept of correlation, and returns to this graph in Chapter 10 to discuss regression. The discussion in both chapters is set within the context of Galton's contribution to the field. The text states that the data are taken from a study done by Karl Pearson, a disciple of Galton's.
