Resources? I think my FAQ has some commentary on
transformations, and on special considerations about zero.
My FAQ does point to some other resources, but I have
not brought that up to date in a long time. I think I point to
what Warren Sarle wrote on 'measurement' but
you might check the various resources. And check the
homepages of other people who contribute to these
stat groups and give URLs in their tags. If you decide
on some keywords, you might try a Google search,
( - 'tutorial' has served me as a limiting search word,
a few times.)
It is often useful to read what is published in several
textbooks. Sometimes old textbooks have as much
to say as new textbooks do, if the old ones don't
assume so many answers. An older one might have
an attitude and commentary that makes it clearer why
a newer book takes the emphasis that it does.
And: I have been impressed
and educated by the original journal articles on some
questions -- a two-paragraph topical survey in a textbook
can't cover everything, so if the textbook leaves you
wondering, search out *its* references.
