Einstein was not considered slow at math; this keeps
coming up.  

Now he might have been slow at arithmetic, but this
has essentially NOTHING to do with mathematical 
ability.  Many excellent mathematicians are quite
poor at arithmetic.  Knowing how to do the manipulations
adds little, if anything, with understanding what
they mean; one cannot teach the latter to teachers.
