If you currently have machines running Solaris 10 and covered by a Sun support
contract, my understanding is that you can switch some of those supported
systems to OpenSolaris and they will still be covered at the same level of
support.

Under "Sun System Service Plan for Solaris" on this page:
http://www.opensolaris.com/learn/subscriptions/
"You will have the convenience of a single support agreement that covers your
Sun hardware and your Sun operating system - either Solaris or OpenSolaris."
The paragraph above that makes a similar statement for the case where some of
your hardware is not Sun hardware.

For the standard (ST) level of support, the phone support and response times
are the same for Solaris 10 and OpenSolaris.

Some minor differences exist between OpenSolaris support and Solaris 10
support. You should compare the programs on the web site and speak with your
Sun sales representative.
OpenSolaris Support: http://www.sun.com/service/opensolaris/

If your support contract is up for renewal, please speak with your Sun sales
representative about continuing support for both Solaris 10 and OpenSolaris.

You definitely can get support for both and get the educational discount for
both, even if one group of 100 machines includes some Solaris 10 systems and
some OpenSolaris systems.

I hope this helps, Ken. Thank you for inquiring. We need to clarify our
offerings on our web sites. Thank you for trying OpenSolaris.
