Hi Gary ! True, Sun offers a lot of things for free for universities, including the comprehensive Sun Academic Initiative program. However, some of the things you mentioned above are offered to individuals only as a trial (at least that was true last time I checked). Personally, I find it a bit annoying that the download page (http://www.sun.com/products-n-solutions/edu/promotions/edusoft/individual/download/) doesn't explicitly mention which applications are only trials. You have to first download and install them and only then discover they may only be trials.
