Hi,

I'm trying to install Opensolaris 2008.05 on my Eee PC 900 but
I haven't come that far. I have created a bootable USB memory
stick from the 2008.05 CD using the method described in
http://blogs.sun.com/anilg/date/20080428

When I plug in the USB stick in the EeePC and select
boot from USB I get the Solaris grub menu where I can
choose GUI installer or text installer. After that I get a
lot of messages of type:

WARNING: /pci at 0,0/pci1043.82d8 at 1d,7/storage at 2/disk at 0,0 (sd1):
Command failed to complete...Device is gone
:
and then end up with:
"Requesting System Maintenance Mode
(See /lib/svc/share/README for more information.)
Console login service(s) cannot run
Root password for system maintenance
"
Here I end up in a mini root system.

Has anyone successfully booted or installed from USB memory
stick on the Eee PC ?
Don't know if this is an Eee PC specific issue or a generic
problem with installing OpenSolaris from USB.

The ID pci1043.82d8 potentially can be the USB controller for
the USB stick from which I'm booting. Based on the warning messages
it looks like the installer is losing contact with the USB drive.
There were some other messages that I couldn't see when it
scrolled away quickly. I have tried many times connecting the
USB memory in different ports with the same results and I have
a USB keyboard connected as well.

Any suggestions on how to debug this would be appreciated.

/KarlD
