I've installed from USB cd drives before, but haven't tried installing
from a USB stick, sorry...
That said, I do boot 2008.05 (well, 2008.11) all the time from an
external USB hard disk when doing pkg image updates on my 701.
[ the internal 4g flash is too small really to hold more than one boot
environment, so I do all the pkg image updating when booted from my 40gb
usb disk, then use zfs send/recv to get the resulting boot environment
onto the internal SSD ]
Sorry this doesn't help much, does it ?
cheers,
timI have created a bootable USB memory
