Thanks for your reply. As I haven't heard of any successful installation on
the Eee PC from USB memory stick I will swtich over to using a
usb dvd-rom instead.

On the 900 I have 16G SSD where I will keep my Mandriva (Linux) for now
and I will install Opensolaris on an 8G SD card I have plugged in.
Is 8 GB enough ? I suppose I will have to install some more software
since I don't think all the sunfreeware software under /opt/sfw I may
need comes with the OpenSolaris CD. 

How do you upgrade to newer kernel ? Does that process wipe out all the
additional software and drivers you install (for example OSS and atheros
drivers) ?

Another thing, did you get the webcam to work? I have written a
simple application that can capture pictures and video from a Logitech 9000
USB webcam for my desktop (build 89) based on the v4l2 interface provided
by usbvc driver. I will try it out on the Eee PC as soon as I get the OS 
installed.
