Did you have to install the perl and other updates there?
What versions you running?

I also have the same problem with v2.1.2 on different
hardware platform.
However the problem is resolved by installing the updated
packages of 
ClamAV and HAVP from
http://www.stellarcore.net/downloads/efw2-updates/

Before installing the updated packages, it takes approx 20
min to boot. 
After installing, the system can boot in minutes.

The long boot time problem is not related to squid cache
size because no 
matter how large the cache is.
