Even on a blank install, the same hardware that boots fine 2.1.2 takes  
ages to boot 2.2-rc3.

Takes forever on udev start, takes at least 3 minutes for syslog. I  
went away to get breakfast and came back and it was still at 86%.

I will try again during Christmas time, as I'll be in town with  
nothing to do (g/f working), so I'll take a day to test all the  
options again.

I'd rather have RAID on it, but if it slows things down more, I'm  
gonna have to dump it.
