The selected individual will work under the supervision of the IT Manager to provide IT system administration services and IT support to a team of specialists/scientists with working in environment, forestry, and geomatics. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the IT Manager, the IT Administrator will take progressively more responsibility in the following areas: Internal Systems: • Systems backups, archiving, and disaster recovery • Expert IT support to PC users; • Analyzing the reasons for breakdown of IT infrastructure • Coordinate, develop, and maintain IT documentation, including procedures, network/systems documentation, and IT FAQs. • Basic training to new users or customers in using their PCs or specialist software applications. Networking • Maintaining company network infrastructure, including network security. • Administration of WAN and Internet connections. • Day to day management of Linux and Windows file and web servers Telephony • Managing IP telephone (PBX) system Asset Management: • Purchase of hardware and software products and other IT supplies. • Company asset maintenance • Installing and configuring new equipment and upgrading existing systems, testing, repairing and maintaining equipment. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related discipline from a reputable university; • Minimum 5 years experience working on large scale computer network operation; • Excellent knowledge of networking / server and operating systems (Linux/Unix & Microsoft), hardware and common office software; • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and solid problem-solving skills • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities concurrently and prioritize workload under deadline pressure; • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to explain problems and solutions, in non-technical terms • Be able to keep up to date with developments in IT • Fluent in English both oral and written. Optional Skill: - Linux/Unix shell scripting - Knowledge in HTML/XHTML, CSS, Java script, ASP .NET and PHP. - Experience of developing relational databases with mySQL/MS-SQL/Oracle.
