Yes Brendan! I figured it out very well too. Now i tried another aproach with 144Mhz RX and injecting at the same time the K2+transverter (over attenuator) on main qrg (observing the noise on RX)and signal generator 5, 10 and 20KHz away from central frequency. I think the dinamic range of RX (at this time ft897D) will be good enough to see if anything is wrong.... On 14Mhz (IF qrg for my trv) with K2 on TX 14.265 (over 35dB ATT) means -36dBm signal at ant port i can not hear any noise increment 10Khz away ,barely heard at 6KHz..... It seams that i pushed HP over limits HI HI.
At the end Brendan,Eric and others thanks for Your time and explanation.... But still have to check the RX chain....and still dont know how DK8SG and DF9IC got that bad results with XV144....:( Adi ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brendan Minish" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "S55M" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: "Elecraft" <elecraft@mailman.qth.net> Sent: Thursday, March 10, 2005 10:51 PM Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K2 with 144Mhz transverter S55M said: > Hello again....and again :)) > > Nw i tried to reduce RBW to 1KHz but not so much difference..... > Where to check first? > S55M said: > Hello again....and again :)) > > Nw i tried to reduce RBW to 1KHz but not so much difference..... > Where to check first? > The specs on the HP8590 would imply that you are looking at test instrument limitations rather than the rig it's self The hp 8590 spec for noise sidebands is < -65 dBc at 30 Khz offset Max dynamic range for onscreen viewing 70dB, for signal to distortion max dynamic range is 70dB 73 Brendan EI6IZ _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
