Good points! I should have been clear, though, that these are primary cells, non-rechargeable. They the same AA size but have less energy (watt hours) than the 1.5v*3aH=4.5WH ones that give the KX1 6*1.5=9v nominal, but give it higher voltage of 3*4=12v nominal, for a shorter time.

Summary (with apologies to Emily Dickinson): the candle burns at both ends, and it might or might not last the night.
