Dave, I wish to disagree with you on this point. Yes, this is a knowledge-based hobby. However, I learned enough to pass my exams and got a wire in the trees so I could get on the air. I've spent my time since then learning. You have the rest of your life to study and learn. We have no clue how long this sunspot cycle and good propagation conditions will last.
