Joel, you might just get on the air. If you don't find a CQ at a slow enough speed, call CQ yourself, perhaps adding /QRS from time to time.
There's nothing that focuses the mind of a new CW operator like being in a QSO. That's why so many of us can remember how it felt to reach for the key even decades later. Hams who know on-air etiquette will call you at YOUR speed. We have our share of LIDs who don't understand and romp out a call at a high speed. Just ignore them. They're learning too - in their case Ham etiquette Hi! If you respond at all just say "pse QRS OM" But there are a lot of fellows who will come back at your speed. I do that every time I hear a slow CQ. We might spend at least 15 minutes just exchanging our names, qth, rig, and then sign. For someone really new at CW QSO's, a 15 minute QSO just getting that stuff across is often a pretty exhausting exercise anyway. 73, Ron AC7AC -----Original Message----- From: elecraft-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:elecraft-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Joel Black Sent: Wednesday, May 16, 2012 2:02 PM To: elecraft Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Slow Speed CW With My K3 Thanks for all the resources. For whatever reason, I never thought of the ARRL code practice. It just slipped my mind.
