Thanks for the several replies I got on this Diversity Mode newbie question. Now I understand, and after reading those replies, took a closer listen - sure enough, the two receivers ARE on the same (VFO A) frequency. I was reading too much into the instructions! And yes, it is obvious now why the two VFO displays aren't in sync until / unless one wants them to be and that is easy enough to do.
