Phil,

IMHO, that is a wise decision. While "the cloud" is supposed to be secure, I have my doubts. The only thing I would consider committing to the cloud would possibly be encrypted off-site backup data, but for now, my RAID file server serves that purpose quite nicely, although it does not offer me off-site backup storage in case of a major disaster. I can write my backup data periodically to DVDs and keep them at a different location should I deem that necessary. I do not have anything that is classified, so am most concerned about data recovery in case a disaster totally destroys the drives on my file server.

Our servers are our property and under our control. The cloud is under who-knows-whose control who-knows-where. We made a conscious decision that we will not put our sensitive client or company data - some classified - on such a system. 73 de K2ASP - Phil Kane
