Most RCA connectors around today are crap, and so is the cable they are attached to, but that was not true back then. The RCA connectors that Switchcraft still mfrs for cable mounting are first rate, and typical of what the designers of that gear had in mind. Switchcraft 3502 is the male, 3503 is the female, and there are a couple of variations. They fit RG58 quite well -- don't know if they fit anything larger.
