Well, at least it wasn't a 211, 25, 2A3, or some other vintage tube made rare only due to vacuum tube audiofool demand. Fourty years ago, I zapped big-time my dad's Simpson 260 volt-ohm meter, having clipped the meter leads on to the the 2.5 vac output of a 110-to-2.5 volt transformer and then applying 120 vac...but unfortunately I had reversed the primary and secondary windings.
