Makes sense. Originally written for EME, that transit time is about 2.7 seconds if my math is close... 2*250K miles/(186k/s)... plus some processing moments, a few ms for amp relays. A larger window would be problematic.

Two seconds is stretching it. I've seen very strong JT65 signals that don't decode with a time error of 1.7 sec!
