Tim,
One helpful feature of the K3 is the availability of TX TEST - that does
not transmit any RF but all other the transmit controls work.
So you can work at setting the audio levels sitting right next to the K3
with no danger. Once you have everything set up, turn TX TEST off and
move to a safe location.
