I did all the FCC required licenses at Portland FCC. General class while in High School, all commercial licenses including 3rd class radiotelegraph and Amateur Extra around early 1960s. And with a 10 year broadcasting career usually yearly visits from McCann or another FCC engineer Burson at the broadcast station inspections.

Frank McCann was one of the old timers when I joined the agency in 1967. By that time he was the Engineer in Charge of the Portland Office but the EIC did a lot of the journeyman jobs in those smaller offices. When he retired in the late 1970s (or was it the early 1980s) I applied for his job but they had to give it to someone else whose office was being closed and I continued at the San Francisco Office until I retired in 1995.
