You could let NASA argue with him.

GSFC-733-HARN-01, Rev C, July 2003, DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING STANDARD for ELECTRICAL HARNESSES (GFSC is Goddard Space Flight Center) says:

"4.20 Conductor terminations- The preferred method of terminating conductors is with a crimp termination. However, where necessary, solder terminations are acceptable."
