Gary,

If possible, use a real serial port instead of a USB/serial adapter.
If you are using a USB/serial adapter, plug it into a native USB port, not into a hub.
Close K3 Utility and reboot the computer.
Remove the power cable from the K3 for at least 5 seconds
Hold the K3 power switch down for at least 10 seconds
Open K3 Utility and "Send All New Firmware".

If that does not cure things, check your computer serial connections - try a new cable, etc.

The flashing yellow light appeared first, now extinguished, just the flashing red Tx light, unlit screen and MCU LD in the display.
