I think you are referring to March 1999 QST, "Binaural IQ". 

That effect is what the K3 AFX Bin mode is supposed to be, insn't it?
(For some reason though my ears can't hear the "spatial" separatoin.
It sounds different for sure, but I just don't interpret it as spatial
separation..)
