That's what I had to do Pete. The bail is far too tall for me also. After trying to whittle wood and bend metal, I finally cut some dense closed cell foam on my band saw and made a nice little riser for the front.

The current one only elevates the frot bottom edge of my K3 2 > 1/4", so I'm not sure a 1 1/2" tilt stand located an inch behind the > front panel would be enough different to matter.
