Agreed.

I suggest the following:

Very, very unbranded homepage with enough information to let the user
know what letters.app is, how few expectations to have and how it is
being developed with a link to a page containing links to all the
information sources (mailing lists, github, etc) and anything else
that a contributor might need to know.
