The thread summary is really nice. But I've got a couple of nits to pick. You show the start of the last message but I think the first unread message would be better, since that's the first thing you'll read in the thread. Maybe you could show the first lines of a few more messages, although that might be too busy or take up too much space. The name in collapsed view looks like it's the thread starter because that's who's in the same position in the open view and the subject doesn't have a 're:' prefix or anything to indicate that it's a reply.
