That's easy. The MUA should know what it did send out.
If it receives an email from *me* which is not in my Sent folder (or not in the same folder where this mail would be sorted into after applying filter rules) or the trash of my sending account, then there's something wrong.

Optionally there could be a rule (for each account) to treat mails from *me* as SPAM

(but I happen to send a lot of emails from my iPhone to one of my own accounts (which I don't have on the iPhone, only on the Mac) just as reminder)
