Yes, but also for people handling customer queries or orders.


Spammers like to put the Sent timestamp in the future, so that their spam
shows up on top in your inbox.
Letters could examine the whole "Received" headers list, and if any
sending/transferring date is later in time than the receiver's time,
replace it.

No, time stamps are what they are. They're useful for tracing problems in message transport. Letters should never modify a message except in response to a user action. Even then, it should prefer to annotate the message. For example, the ANNOTATE extension allows you to save an alternate "Subject:", without actually changing the message header.
