So far I had no problem under X at all. I admit I don't watch CE closely when it works (it checks every 5 minutes). So maybe the problem solves itself when the servers are checked again, but I doubt it: since I keep the status window open, I'm almost sure I would have noticed something if it had claimed to retrieve mail without showing it to me. >I'm looking for a little feedback to help narrow down the problem (and >maybe come up with a fix). Those that have this problem, what OS versions >are you running, what extension sets? I am running 10.2.1 and 9.2.2 too (french), with a very un-minimal extension set (I usually switch to a somewhat reduced set for Classic because some things are useless or annoying under Classic, but not for compatibility matters). >What kind of mail volume do you normally see >(about how many emails get downloaded from a SINGLE account on a single >pass. Not total number between all accounts, and not total volume on an >account over the course of a day... but simply, if you check one account, >right now, on average, how many messages would you get?) Often only one message per account at a time, rarely more than 3 or 4 since they're checked so often. And the total volume was very low for the last few monthes, only 2 to 10 a day, so it is unlikely that the problem could be solved by a subsequent download from the same server. (I managed to keep most of the spam on a Hotmail account I ignore -- it has the nice "feature" to flush itself when it's full or you haven't checked it recently, that's a totally microsoftian way of respecting the user: they treat us like spam, let's use them for what they're good at; and since they support spammers, let's keep spam on their disks) >Those that do NOT have this problem, what OS versions and extension sets >are you running? Also, does it always not happen, or just usually not >happen. As I said, I use the same OS versions as you do, without restricting extensions (I have many, it's probably useless to list them since it's not me who have the problem). There's one difference though: I mostly use Emailer 2.0v1, because there is no real french 2.0v3 (the unofficial translation by N. Seriot -- who does iCab's french localization too -- has minor UI problems and 2.0v3's major truncation bug with accented characters, and I was too lazy so far to adapt a script to wrap before sending using an OSA Menu kb shortcut). I only use 2.0v3 to tidy the folders layout (2.0v1 can't drag the folders). Maybe you could try 2.0v1 (I've lived happily so far with my setup, keeping 2.0v3 for rare occasions). I had to modify some ressources though, to prevent 2.0v3 from updating things like the prefs and address book that would make them incompatible with 2.0v1. So there are necessary hacks to keep both versions happy (and one has to choose a prefered version, since the few files that aren't shared will get out of sync, like the address book, and syncing them back would be so tedious I didn't even try to script it). I don't remember exactly what I changed, so ask if you're interested and I'll look it up (won't take long, there's not much to do). ---- VRic ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
