I think she is a candidate for Baton Mail. I use it myself because my ISP 
went to SMTP authentication last year. I have not had any problems. I put 
an alias in the Startup items folder and it runs in the background 
without any prompting on my part. It is a great app. and extends the life 
of Emailer into this age of authentication schemes. Give it a try at:
