I just went to look at the Tex-Edit web page and want to thank you
guys for providing this resource. I will definitely be trying out this
program.
But I know from looking at some of the things written on this page,
and on the other pages to which it was linked, that there is so little
that I really know about using Macs and their OSs.
I have little time just to sit around and play with the computer.
I'm not a power user and don't use one in business. I never learned to
program one. I stick with Emailer because it's the most elegant and
LOGICAL email program I've ever seen, and it suits my style of dealing
with data. I know that I hardly use even 1/100 of its' features, but am
satisfied with what it does for me even so.
So how does someone such as I, who loves the Mac and intend to stay
on one, learn how to do all these various things that Applescripts, for
instance, are able to do? Are there seminars to attend? Workshops you
can go to for training? Tutors? How can I, not a pro, learn to do more
with my machine?
I don't learn well from manuals, I learn better from picking folks'
brains in classes. I'm also loathe to try things on my machine that
would break it, so am not eager to try programming tricks that will have
me reloading the OS, etc.! I'm not a coward (ex-military, travelling
nurse, worked overseas, etc.) but it's the only machine I have and my
experience is that when I start taking things apart, I don't get them
back together very well sometimes!
While this might be out of the bounds of Emailer info, I figure the
people on this list might have some ideas about all this and would be
happy to have any suggestions you folks might offer. I'm not an idiot -
I trained a lot of folks in various topics over the years, myself - but
some things don't come naturally to me. Thanks - Charles
