I'm afraid it doesn't work that way. There is a web site where I can 
click on a link to get a class roster for an upcoming class, and one of 
the fields is the email address, but many of them say "not on file." And 
there is no requirement for students to give their email address.

On the first class night, I pass around the roster and ask them to update 
phone numbers and email address, but some of them don't enter an address.

I guess the previous suggestion to require them to send me an email with 
a specific subject had some merit, but it would be one more admin 
requirment among many, and I'll guarantee some would fail to comply or 
would use a different subject and screw it up. There are enough of them 
that can't even manage to read my syllabus telling them which classes to 
turn in which assignments.
