Did you create the script in OS X? For some reason, OS X's Script Editor won't create a new script that works with Emailer. At least I couldn't get it to do it. All it did for me is exactly what you describe, it shows up, but when selected nothing happens. What I did to get around the problem was duplicate an existing, working Emailer script, then open it, delete everything in it, and paste in my new code.
