My BAD! I guess I need to slow down and read more carefully. I missed the "OSX" in the subject and tried the scripts on my OS 9.1 Mac. I will now try them in OS X. Directions to a "Trash messages and attachments" script for OS 9 would be appreciated. Again my apologies for the noise.
