For what it's worth, in Spanish, the accented vowels come and go and 
change apparently without rhyme or reason, meaning I've given up trying 
to figure it out or bothering writing without accents. Sometimes some 
machine along the way changes them, sometimes they come thru and go thru 
OK.

Others on this list may have discovered why they change.
